At Namaste Manang, we are proud to lead by example. We have developed our own sustainability criteria for tours and accommodations. Here are some of the eco-conscious practices we follow:
We actively promote shared vehicle options to reduce carbon emissions and limit traffic congestion in fragile mountain ecosystems. All vehicles must meet at least Euro 3 emission standards.
Our partner hotels are required to follow the core principles of waste management—Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle—to minimize their environmental impact.
Every hotel and lodge we partner with serves as a local ambassador for wildlife conservation and environmental protection, helping spread awareness through responsible practices.
Our selected hotels prioritize hydroelectricity and solar energy over fossil fuels.
We support and encourage tree plantation activities in and around hotel premises and along trekking trails.
For the first time in the region, we have introduced eco-panel building materials as part of a sustainable construction demonstration project. These reduce reliance on firewood and timber, offering a model for eco-friendly home and hotel construction.
We discourage the use of traditional firewood and promote clean cooking alternatives. Where forest products are used, we ensure they are sourced legally and sustainably through local Forest User Committees under a verified harvest plan.
All guests receive a personal waste bag and are required to carry their non-biodegradable waste back with them. Guides are responsible for ensuring that everyone adheres to this practice.
We advocate for waste segregation, composting, and plastic-free operations in all our tours and partner facilities through our ZeWa (Zero Waste) Initiative.
We strictly remind all visitors to maintain a safe distance from wildlife (hang back and enjoy the view), limit observation time, and refrain from using flash photography, artificial lighting, or making loud noises. Respectful wildlife watching is a core value of our tours.
