At Namaste Manang, we are proud to lead by example. We have developed our own sustainability criteria for tours and accommodations. Here are some of the eco-conscious practices we follow:
We actively promote shared vehicle options to reduce carbon emissions and limit traffic congestion in fragile mountain ecosystems. All vehicles must meet at least Euro 3 emission standards.
Every hotel and lodge we partner with serves as a local ambassador for wildlife conservation and environmental protection, helping to raise awareness through responsible practices. These standards must be upheld by all our partner hotels and lodges.
The use of hydroelectricity and solar energy over fossil fuels is a mandatory requirement for our selected hotel partners.
To continue our collaboration, we support and encourage tree plantation activities in partnership with our affiliates, and participation in these activities is a requirement for maintaining our business relationship.
We, along with our partners, must adhere to sustainable forest harvesting practices when necessary. We discourage the use of traditional firewood and actively promote clean cooking alternatives. In cases where forest products are used, they must be legally and sustainably sourced through local Forest User Committees under a verified harvest plan.
All guests receive a personal waste bag and are required to carry their non-biodegradable waste back with them. Guides are responsible for ensuring that everyone adheres to this practice.
We advocate for waste segregation, composting, and plastic-free operations in all our tours and partner facilities through our ZeWa (Zero Waste) Initiative. Therefore, all our partner hotels and facilities are required to segregate waste properly.
We strictly remind all visitors to maintain a safe distance from wildlife (hang back and enjoy the view), limit observation time, and refrain from using flash photography, artificial lighting, or making loud noises. Respectful wildlife watching is a core value of our tours.
